The Red Spokes tour is a spectacular way to discover the ‘real Peru’ a unique and fascinating country. Experience the contrast of bustling capital Lima and the beautiful Arequipa. This is Peru’s second city, also known as La Ciudad Blanca - the White City- for it’s , gleaming colonial buildings built of sillar, a shining volcanic rock. The town is set in stunning mountains and overlooked by the snow-capped El Misti Volcano.
Included in the trip is a dramatic descent of 2100m cycling down El Misti, a breathtaking ride along the Colca Canyon reputedly the deepest in the world, unforgettable scenery and glimpses of a way of life that has barely changed in the last 500 years, the famous lost city of the Inca's - Machu Picchu, and a visit to the fascinating town of Cusco.
The May trip includes 4 day trekk of the classic Inca Trail. The optional third week provides an opportunity to go right off the beaten track to the high Andes and witness the lifestyle of Peru's indigenous people, which has remained the same for centuries. |
