Cycling through the dramatic landscapes of the Pamirs with barely any traffic all day (especially when on the plateau) and thinking it can’t get better than this but it does around the next bend, is an experience to be treasured. But the abiding memory is of the astonishing hospitality and generosity of the Pamiri people who would humble you by joyfully offering all they had with you unable to offer anything in return.
