Laos - South to North
A Hospitable Journey

Redspoks Laos bicycle tour is our most popular cycling holiday. Laos is a beautiful, quiet country, still relatively untouched by western values. It is mountainous and land-locked, with a population of just 6 million who have a reputation for being amongst the most welcoming and friendly people in the world. The Laos redspokes cycling tour offers spectacular scenery and a rich and diverse cultural experience. What better way could there be to explore Laos than by bicycle?

Our cycling holiday begins capital city Vientiane. Situated on the banks of the Mekong River, Vientiane has a relaxed, elegant charm. Leaving Vientiane we stop to visit the COPE project which redspokes supports through LVCF charity. From here you will enjoy some of the most breath-taking landscapes in Asia, mountain biking towards Northern Laos. We travel through a rural landscape to Nam Ngum, then cycling on to Vang Vieng. We enter a landscape of stunning limestone karst formations as our journey continues on via rolling hills to the historic city of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient, royal city full of exquisite Buddhist Temples, where time seems to stand still, is a magical place to explore and relax.

Cycling north out into the mountains towards Oudomxay we visit a Hmong village school which redspokes has been supporting for a number of years. From here it's on to Ban Nalay village where we will be treated to a traditional Laos homestay amongst the community; you will be hosted by the Laos villagers who perform a traditional Basi ceremony. redspokes supports Ban Nalay community projects as a means of contributing to village development. This part of the Laos bicycle tour will give you an insight into the traditional way of life and work, weaving and cotton-producing and the culture of the Tai Lue people. Our cycle trip continues to the Mekong River for a boat journey through glorious scenery back into Luang Prabang where our Laos mountain bike holiday finally ends.
