Itinerary


Day 1: Puerto Montt

Arrive at Puerto Montt, a bustling harbour town and gateway to the spectacular Lake District. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in nearby Puerto Varas. Puerto Varas, 'the City of Roses' was founded on the shores of Lake Llanquihue as the main harbour. With German colonial architecture, a stunning waterfront and flower decked streets there is plenty to enjoy here

Day 2: Puerto Varas - Puerto Octay

We begin cycling along the shores of Llanquihue Lake (the third biggest lake in South America) with beautiful views of Volcanoes: Osorno (2.652 mts), Puntiagudo (2.190 mts), Tronador (3.451 mts) and Calbuco (2.015 mts) and the imposing Los Andes Range. We ride through a picturesque village called El Frutillar and up to Puerto Octay. Tonight we stay at a lakeside hotel.

Day 3: Puerto Octay - Osorno Volcano

This morning we continue our route around the Lake Llanquihue cycling to the small village of Cascada. We have a picnic lunch here and continue to Ensenada where you will enjoy majestic views of Osorno, Calbuco and Puntiagudo volcanos. From here we turn away from the lake cycling uphill to reach the foot of Orsono Volcano and our lodging for the night.

Day 4: Osorno Volcano - Puella

We set off on our bikes after breakfast, with 10km downhill and then fairly flat road in the direction of Petrohue. Here we board a private catamaran for a 2-hour boat trip to Peulla sailing on the emerald waters of Todos los Santos Lake. Tonight, we stay in Puella.

Cycling Distance: 29.4 km/ 18miles (6km/3.7miles gravel path) (23.4km/14.5miles paved road).

Day 5: Puella - Puerto Blest 

This morning we cycle 29km on a gravel road following the Perez Rosales Path toward Puerto Frias, which takes us across the border into Argentina. We will stop along the way for a picnic lunch. From Peurto Frias we have at 20-minute trip by catamaran across Frias Lake to reach Puerto Alegre. Disembarking we cycle 3km further on gravel path, reaching Puerto Blest.

Cycling Distance: 30.7km/ 19miles (100% gravel path)

Day 6: Puerto Blest – Bariloche

 After breakfast, we have another catamaran trip across the Nahuel Huapi Lake. From here we cycle the Circuito Chico route passing Bahia Lopez, Moreno Lake and the breathtaking panoramic viewing point from where you can see both Moreno and Nahuel Lakes Victoria Island and the Andes mountains. We stay tonight in Bahia Serena, close to Bariloche.

 Day 7: Bariloche

A free day to explore this beautiful town on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake or cycle around the slopes of Cerro Catedral moutain(Scenic circular route). For those who prefer to take a rest from the bikes, there are plenty of other activities: horse riding, white water rafting, kayaking, fishing and paragliding to name but a few. You could make a short cycle journey to the base of Cerro Campanario from where you can take a chair lift to the summit for spectacular panoramic views. Otherwise you may prefer just to relax by the lake and sample some of the chocolate for which this area is renowned.

Day 8: Bariloche- San Martin de los Andes

After an early breakfast we transfer by vehicle up to the starting point of 'Camino de los Siete Lagos' (Seven Lakes Road) were our cycling begins in this spectacular area. We will have a picnic lunch at a riverside spot and then continue to San Martin de los Andes, a beautiful village by the shores of Lacar Lake, located in a natural basin surrounded by dense forests and snow-capped mountains.

Day 9: San Martin de los Andes - Choshuenco

Today we cross the border again to return into Chile along the Huahum path. Our cycling begins with a ride to Pirihueico Port through the Huilo Huilo nature reserve. We will have lunch at Pirihueico before taking a barge across the lake to Port Fuy. From here we cycle on paved road to Choshuenco village.

 Day 10: Tuesday:  Choshuenco - Pucón

This morning we cycle to Conaripe Village, first following a waterside route along the shores of the beautiful Panguipulli and then Calafquén lake to reach Conaripe village. From here we will transfer by vehicle to the picturesque town of Pucon; situated on the edge of Lake Villarrica, in the shadow of the perfectly formed (and currently active) Volcán Villarrica.

Day 11: Pucon

We enjoy a rest day in beautiful Pucon with a choice of activities on offer. Those looking to relax can visit one of the many thermal spas which surround the town or settle down on the vocanic sands of the lakeside beach. The energetic can cycle up to Claro River's waterfall or opt for white water rafting or horse riding. Adventure seekers will want hike up to the crater of the beautiful Volcano Villarica (weather permitting). It is a challenging but not technical ascent to the summit for magnificent views across the surrounding area and the bubbling lava within the volcano. all equipment can be hired locally.

Day 12: Pucon - Cunco

We have a short vehicle transfer from Pucon to Villarica village. From here we cycle along the quiet Interlagos route (passing Huilipilun and Colico) and to the small village of Cunco, through Villarica National Park, home to dense araucaria forests (also known as monkey puzzle trees).   You can relax this evening with a soak in a hot tub.

Day 13: Cuncho - Conguillio National Park

After breakfast, we cycle eastwards passing through the village of Melipeuco, to reach Conguillio National Park, Chile’s first geo park.  In Mapudungún ‘Conguillio’ means 'water with pine kernels'. The park is also known as ‘the umbrellas’, due to the shape of its ancient araucaria forest. We cycle along volcanic lava trails that originate from the active Llaima Volcano (3.125 mts), the most active volcano in South America and one of only five in the world known to have an active lava lake withi its crater. We will visit the Verde Lagoon and Arco Iris Lagoon before cycling back to our accommodation within the park, at the foot of the volcano.

Day 14: Conguillio National Park- Home

There is time to take a stroll around the park today before your transfer to Temuco airport for your journey home. There are also options for kayaking, helicopter tours or trekking.
